Alexa DeRiggs is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) teaching Vinyasa yoga from a place of compassion, curiosity, and genuine fun. Drawing from her love of dance, passion for the environment, and years as a competitive martial artist, Alexa’s dynamic teachings build strength, increase flexibility, and inspire play. A next-generation teacher Alexa blends Classic yogic principles and real-world experiences into an integrated and accessible practice that is intuitive, grounded, radical and unforgettably wild. Going beyond carefully interwoven sequencing and curated playlists; Alexa works with yogis of all levels toward a practice full of introspection and empowerment to follow the voice of their inner teacher. Alexa came to yoga as a means of stability, exploration, and healing. As a form of self-study, yoga became the vessel that allowed her to form a deeper and more meaningful relationship with her body, herself, and others. After a few years of establishing a consistent and steady practice, Alexa followed the path of becoming a yoga teacher in New York City and completed her Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training at Loom Yoga. Under the guidance of Erika Mehiel, Alexa pursued her interest and trained in the study of yoga therapeutics at Usha Veda Yoga. Being a long time student of Erica Chen, Alexa completed an intensive mentorship where she had the opportunity to dive deeper into her own practice, learn the art of sequencing, the intention behind hands-on adjustments, and how to create space for empowerment as a yoga instructor. Based on the beautiful island of Bequia- located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines- Alexa is an avid hiker, PADI dive instructor, novice sailor, and dog mom. She has a BA in sociology and women’s studies from Colgate University, holds a second degree black belt in tae kwon do.. Alexa teaches meditation & breath work in addition to vinyasa, yin, and power yoga.
