Shalaland was created for yoga teachers and yogi’s to connect with one another on one platform. You as a yogi can browse teachers from all over the world and book a class with them on Shalaland. Can’t find your favorite teacher on there? [Share] your wish with them to invite them on Shalaland!
Shalaland created the first yoga dedicated classroom tool. Together with the teachers in the Shalaland community we analyzed what was out there for doing yoga online. We noticed that there was no tool, dedicated to live online yoga. The most popular tools were Zoom (for following live flows) and Youtube (for following pre-recorded videos). Live flows allow a sense of real live experience similar to going to a real yoga studio and pre-recorded videos allow yogi’s to do their flow in privacy. What lacks however, in both tools, is the full potential to advance your practice and the lack of constant supervision can lead to unnecessary injuries.
We therefore decided to create our yoga dedicated online classrooms that solves all of these issues. Shalaland’s online classrooms offer teachers to fully focus on monitoring and adjusting their yogi’s flow while maintaining their privacy.
Zoom is not made for yoga classes, it is made for conferencing. The main difference with Shalaland’s online classes is that it is made for the purpose of doing and teaching yoga. Now let’s take a look at our classroom’s main unique features:
Only the teacher sees his/her yogi’s. Yogi’s participating in the class cannot see each other. This allows everyone to fully focus on doing their own flow, without any distraction.
Teacher’s focus on your flow
The teacher plays a pre-recorded video for the participating yogi’s to follow. The teacher then monitors everyone’s flow and if needed gives collective (to everyone) or individual (to one yogi) feedback.
Just signup as a yogi, choose a scubscription or pay per class plan and book your first class. It’s as simple as that!
Your booked classes will show up in the Overview section. 10 minutes before the class you will be able to join the class by clicking on “join”.
No, they can’t. The only one that sees you is your teacher. Other yogi’s participating in the class cannot see each other. This allows you to fully focus on your flow.
That’s wonderful! We would love to have you. Just go ahead and signup as a teacher. After signing up you will be able to create your personal Shala page and schedule your first class!
First things first, you need to be a certified yoga teacher. You can then signup as a teacher on Shalaland, create your personal Shala page and schedule your first class!
To create a class you need to have a pre-recorded video. This video will be shown to the students in your class to follow.
To give a class we recommend either a laptop or a computer, with a webcam and a microphone. Even though you will be playing your pre-recorded video, it is nice to start the class off by showing your face through your webcam to welcome the class. You can also end the class by turning on your webcam when the pre-recorded video is done playing, to close the class with your final words.

We recommend creating a class on your laptop or desktop. Go ahead and login on shala.land with your teacher account. Logging in should take you to your Dashboard. On the left, click on the Classes icon and then select “New Class” to schedule and create your next class.
You can join the class 10 minutes before the class begins. Make sure you are on either a laptop or a computer (not on mobile) and use an internet browser that works with Shalaland (latest versions of Chrome, Opera or Firefox).
When you enter the class your browser will ask permission to access your webcam and microphone. You are required to allow this to enter the class.
For security reasons we send new yogi’s a verification email that you have to verify first, before you are able to login. Check your inbox and your spam folder for this email. Your signup verification email will be active for 24 hours, after that you would have to sign up again to get a new verification email. If you haven’t received any email please contact us.
If you have verified your email but still cannot log in, try to either clear your browser’s cache or try to log in in your browser’s private/incognito mode.
Shalaland’s classes allow videos up to 1000 MB (1GB). The easiest way to decrease the size and maintain your video quality would be to upload it to Youtube and then download your Youtube video with a downloader like y2mate.com.
Make sure to list your youtube video as public or unlisted. If you would put it as “private” y2mate can’t see the link.
